Carol Baum trained as an allergist/immunologist and practiced clinical allergy for thirty years before employing her clinical skills in writing fiction, using her lifelong love of novels—particularly mystery novels—to help create her characters and plots. She currently lives in Connecticut with her husband and enjoys visiting her son, traveling, and writing.
Carol has created the character of Dr. Jessica Shepard, an independent woman, who uses her scientific training in deductive reasoning to solve mysteries. In Carol’s first book, Murder on the Mountaintop Leads the Way, the topics of opioid dependency and gene editing serve as the backdrops for the mystery. This allows these important and current topics to be brought to the surface. Carol plans to engage with Jessica Shepard in additional mysterious settings in the coming years.
